About the role
Are you a newly qualified Radiographer looking for your first role or someone looking for a change/new challenge?
A Radiographer’s role within this department is dynamic and varied, with the benefit of a rotational working week through various areas of the department. All our band 5 radiographers are rotated through CT so that they can perform basic scans unaided, and through our minor interventional procedures room to gain experience assisting practitioners using aseptic techniques.
We have an induction and mentorship program to support you in your role.
We also have a proactive education and training culture with an established role extension program for senior radiographers. This makes it an advantageous place to work for those wishing to develop and progress in their careers.
Career routes
You will need to hold a BSc (Hons) Degree in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent DCR and be registered with the HCPC.
We accept applications from final year radiography students.
We have also successfully supported return to practice radiographers within the Trust. If you hold the appropriate qualifications but have not practiced for some time we can provide clinical support to facilitate the renewal of your registration.
Mini case study
Alex Shirley: Band 5 Diagnostic Radiographer
Day to day I am rota’d around the department into different modalities to image and care for patients. I have the opportunity to work in A&E, General X-ray, Theatres, CT and minor interventional procedures. Rotating around these areas allows you to improve practice and gain confidence.
The thing I like the most about my job is caring for lots of patients along their pathway whilst achieving diagnostic images to aid their diagnosis. I also enjoy working with a great team of colleagues, always learning new skills. No two days are the same!
I have worked here for five years, initially as a radiographic assistant. It is a great Trust to work for especially when you want to progress throughout your career with excellent training opportunities. You are also given opportunities to take on extra responsibilities. For example I have taken on the role of hand hygiene trainer within the department. The team here is the best! Everyone works together and looks out for one another.
